Hoofddorp – The enormous Van der Valk Hotel close to Schiphol Airport, has started a large-scale building project. By replacing 225 outdated hotelrooms by 270 new spacious and modern rooms and by building a large convention centre, the hotel is stepping up their game in the world of meetings and conventions.

Since Van der Valk Hotel Schiphol is perfectly situated in between multiple key cities in the Netherlands, it is a great location to organize meetings, conventions and congresses. Bill van der Valk, General Manager of the hotel, is keeping his eyes on the future while rebuilding and remodeling the hotel. “Five years ago, I took over the hotel from my father. Ever since I’ve started as a GM in this hotel, my focus has been on rebuilding it into a modern version.”

The new convention space will include a 1000 square meters room with a six-meter-high ceiling. Next to this, the biggest room will feature 3000 square meters of floor space for bigger conventions. If you are planning a convention for a smaller amount of people, you can also book one of the 25 new plenary rooms. All guests will be able to stay the night in one of the 725 hotel rooms and dine in the new live cooking restaurant. Special events can take place in one of these rooms, since there is a specially designed car elevator present. This entire project will take up to two years, which means the opening of the new wing is planned in 2022. In the meantime, the hotel remains open and it is business as usual.
